Midwife

Sleep and Feeding Consultant

Mum of Three

About Me

I’ve been a practising midwife for over 11 years, working across all areas of midwifery before stepping into the role of Lead Research Midwife within the NHS. Alongside my clinical work, I spent years immersed in maternal and newborn research, helping to shape, question, and improve the care families receive.

But like many parents, my professional experience didn’t fully prepare me for the reality of becoming a mum myself.

Why I do what I do

Becoming a first-time mum was far more challenging than I expected. The early weeks with my eldest son were intense, with disrupted sleep, feeding difficulties, and ongoing tummy issues that left me feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn.

The midwives and health visitors supporting me were kind and caring, but their time was limited, and specialist support around sleep, reflux, colic, and feeding wasn’t easily accessible.

That experience stayed with me.

It highlighted a gap between what parents need and what’s often available - calm, consistent, evidence-based support that looks at the whole picture and meets families where they are.

It’s what led me to create The Motherhood Midwife - a space where parents can access clear guidance, specialist knowledge, and genuine reassurance, without judgement or pressure.

The children are happily smiling; one boy leans on her shoulder, another boy is sitting beside her, and the baby is being held on her lap.
The Calm Confidence Method

How I support families

Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to expanding my knowledge well beyond core midwifery training, with a particular focus on newborn behaviour, feeding, sleep, and perinatal mental health.

Today, I support parents through pregnancy, the postnatal period, and early childhood, helping them understand their baby, feel confident in their choices, and find practical solutions that work in real life.

My approach is grounded in what I call the Calm Confidence Method, combining:

  • Evidence you can trust

  • Experience that ensures a balance between the evidence and everyday realism

  • Empathy for how this really feels

There’s no one ‘right’ way to parent. My role is to help you find your way - calmly, confidently, and with support you can rely on.
